Der König und die Königin von Italien find hierselbst eingetroffen und auf daS Enthusiastischste empfangen worden. Im Unterhaus« wurde der Antrag der Regierung, die Adreßdebatt« heute fort»«- setzen, von den irischen Mitgliedern bekämpft, aver nach 8tz stündiger Diskussion mit 230 gegen 33 Stimmen angenommen. Die Adreßdebatte wurde hierauf fortgesetzt uud die Weiterberathung schließ lich auf morgen vertagt. Loudon, Donnerstag, 13. Januar. (Tel d. DreSdn. Journ.) Der Premierminister Gladstone hat sich leicht erkältet und muß daS Zimmer hüten. Er »umfing gestern eine Deputation von der Re gierung wohlgesinnten Irländern, welche auf eine durchgreifende Reform der Agrarverhältnisse Ir lands drangen. Wie verlautet, hat Gladstone s Antwort die Deputation zufrieden gestellt. Die „TimeS" melden auS Durban von gestern, daß die Boereu Christianis besetzt haben. St. Petersburg, Mittwoch, 12. Januar, Abends. (W T. B.) In der heutigen Plevar- fitzung des Reichsrathk» setzte der Kinanzminister Anaza sein Programm auseinander. Der Minister verhehlte nicht, daß da» Budget für da- Jahr 188 l mit einem Deficit abfchließe, wieS aber andererseits aus die in Aussicht genommenen Reformen hin; diese Reformen müßten nicht sowohl in der Verminderung der Ausgaben, als in der voll ständigen Abschaffung der nicht in daS Budget ein gestellten Eredite bestehen, sowie in der progressiven Rückzahlung der Schuld von 417 Millionen an die ReichSbank. Der gesammte RrichSrath billigte daS Pro gramm de» Kinanzminister« als da» corrrcte Mittel zur Herstellung deS Gleichgewichts de» Budgets. St. Petersburg, Donnerstag, 13. Januar. (Tel. d. DreSdn. Journ.) ES wurde ein kaiserlicher UkaS veröffentlicht, wonach von der ReichSreutri an die ReichSbank 400 Millionen zu zahlen find. Hiermit erfolgt die Tilgung der zur Bestreitung der Ausgaben des Reiches gemachten Bank schulden. Der Rest der Schuldsumme ist mit L0 Millionen jährlich zu tilgen. Die in den Kaffen befindlichen CreditbilletS find dementsprechend zu vernichten. DaS Reichsbudget für 1881 valancirt in Ausgaben und Einnahmen mit 717401009 Rubel. Buenos-Aires, Mittwoch, 12. Januar. (W. T. B.) Den letzten hier eingegangeven Depeschen zufolge lagert die peruanische Armee bei sE-orilloS in der Nähe von Lima; die chilenische Armee steht gleichfalls in der Nähe von Lima bei Lurin. Die Stadt Lima steht unter dem Schutze der Polizei und der fremden Colonie; zur Bertheidigung der selben ist außerhalb der Stadt eine große Anzahl von Dyuamitminen gelegt worden. Dresden, 13. Januar. Am Sonntag haben in ganz Frankreich die Ge- meinderathSwahIen für die nächsten drei Jahre stattqefunden. Die Zahl der Gemeinden beträgt 36075, die der zu wählenden Rothe 480000 Diese Wahlen sind dies Mal von besonderer Bedeutung gewesen, einerseits wegen deS Einflusses der Gemeinderäthe auf die Zusammensetzung des Senats, andererseits wegen der Anstrengungen, welche die Socialisten, Intransigen ten und Communisten gemacht hatten, in die Gemeinde räthe zu gelangen. Auf den Kamps in Paris hatten sich vornehmlich die Anstrengungen der verschiedenen Parteien concentrirt. Wahlberechtigt sind alle geborenen oder natura^isirten Franzosen, über 21 Jahre alt, im Genuß ihrer bürgerlichen und politischen Rechte, nach einem 6 monatigen festen Wohnsitz am betreffenden Orte, mit Ausnahme der im activen Dienste stehenden Mililärpersonen. Schon von Neujahr ab sah man die meisten Straßenecken von Paris sich mit Wahlprocla- mationen bedecken in allen Formen und Dimensionen und von den verschiedensten Farben, unter welchen die blaue am seltensten erschien, während die rothe in allen Schattirungen sich hauptsächlich bemerkbar machte. BiS zum Sonnabend Abend fanden in allen möglichen öffentlichen Localen Wahlversammlungen Statt, in wel chen die Candidaten vor mehr oder minder zahlreichen Versammlungen ihre Programme entwickelten, Ver sprechungen machten, Interpellationen beantworteten, kurz Alles thaten, um sich die Gunst ihrer Zu hörer und Wähler zu sichern. Es gab ComiteS deS Protestes und dec Bertheidigung der Religion von der äußersten Rechten, welche, wie sie sagten, die Fahne der „öffentlichen Ehrenhaftigkeit* entfalteten; auf der äußersten Linken republikanisch-socialistische, radicalsocia- listische, socialistisch-revolutionäre ComiteS und wie sie sonst sich bezeichnen mochten, die große Partei der Rothen in unzähligen Fraktionen zur Darstellung bringend, die ,n ihren Glaubensbekenntnissen sich resolut bis zur absolutesten Negation verstiegen, indem sie sich nicht damit be gnügten, die Abschaffung des Senats zu verlangen, sondern auch die der Deputirtenkammer, der Präsident schaft der Republik, ja de- Pariser MunicipalratheS selbst forderten und somit eigenhändig den Sitz, den sie einzunehmen sich bemühten, unter sich fortzuziehen trachteten. Dennoch wurde die Commune gänzlich und eclatant geschlagen. Kein einziger ihrer Candi- daten, kein einziger der ehemaligen Chefs der Com mune wurde gewählt, und selbst Trinquet, der be rühmte Trinquet, der „Held* wie ihn die „Justice* Clemenceau'- zu begrüßen gewagt hatte, kommt nur zur Stichwahl unter Verhältnissen, welche sein schließ liche- Obsiegen überaus problematisch erscheinen losten. All' diese wilde und lärmende Agitation der com- munistischen Socialisten, all' diese wüste Propaganda in zahllosen Volksversammlungen, alle Reden der Louise Michel, die Ausbeutung deS„CadaverS*Blanqui, die An kunft der letzten Amnestirten aus Numea am Vorabend des Scruti'iiumS, alle diese anscheinend so günstigen Vorbedingungen haben nicht vermocht, irgend einem der Communecandidaten die Stimmenmajorität selbst in den excentrischsten Vorstadtvierteln zu sichern. ES ist dies eine sehr erfreuliche Erscheinung, und eS wäre ungerecht, nicht anerkennen zu wollen, daß die Pariser FaubourgS mehr politisches Verständniß unp Vernunft an den Tag gelegt haben, als man befürchten zu sollen einigermaßen berechtigt war. Ob freilich die opportu nistischen Kreise in der ersten Freude dieses Siege- nicht ein wenig zu weit gehen, wenn sie von einer ab soluten Vernichtung und Erdrückung der socialistisch- communistischen Partei sprechen, da- bleibe dahin ge stellt Gewiß hat das univerasl Diejenigen, welche sich vor ihm als die Verherrlich» und Rächer der Commune präsentirten, zurückgewiesen; allein wiederum sind trotzdem die als Sieger über ihre fana tischen Eoncurrenten Hervorgegangenen ebenfalls von einer stark ultra-radicalen Färbung angehaucht und von den eigentlichen Communards vielfach nur durch Nuan cen verschieden. Die „Räpublique fran^aise* signalisirt ganz Frankreich und dem gejammten Europa, daß Paris einen Beweis seltener politischer Reife gegeben, daß die re- actionäre Partei vollständig zerschmettert ist und daß kein vernünftiger Mensch mehr an die Gefahr eines ^lassenkampfeS oder einer socialistischen Revolution lauben kann. Diese triumphirende Erklärung erscheint nsofern gerechtfertigt, als die monarchistischen Parteien oet den Pariser Gemeinderath-wahlen nur 8 Candida- ten durchgesetzt haben und daß von den Amnestirten und sonstigen socialistisch-anarchistischen Candidaten nur dtt eine, Trinquet, eine anständige Stimmenzahl auf zuweisen vermag, so daß er einige Aussicht hat, bei der Stichwahl in seinem Bezirk durchzudrrngen. DaS Gambetta'sche Blatt hält dafür, daß vor Allem die Amnestie deS vorigen JahreS dazu beigetragen habe, den Wahlen einen so glücklichen Charakter zu geben. Wenn man die Verbannten nicht von Numea zurück gerufen hätte, so würden die Pariser in Masse für sie gestimmt haben. ES zeige sich jetzt, daß man die Com mune unschädlich gemacht habe, indem man ihr Ver zeihung und Vergessenheit gewährte. — DaS „Jour nal deS DsbatS* stellt dem neuen Pariser Gemeinde- rath ein gute- Zeugniß aus, da er in der großen Mehrheit au- den Mitgliedern deS alten besteht, dieser letztere aber weit besser gewesen sei, al- sein Ruf, und erblickt in den GemeinderathSwahlen einen Beweis für die Sicherstellung der gemäßigten Republik. „ES ist zu bemerken* meinen die „DäbatS* „daß die Strö mung, welche da- ganze Land den republikanischen Ein richtungen entgegenträgt, an Heftigkeit verliert, je mehr sie sich erweitert: ebenso wie ein Fluß, der, zwischen zu enge Dämme eingeschlossen, sie zu durchbrechen droht, der aber ruhig und majestätisch dahinfiießt, wenn seine Gewässer kein Hinderniß mehr auf ihrem Wege finden. * Die Monarchisten ihrerseits glauben sich zu der neuesten Kundgebung de- allgemeinen Stimmrechts be glückwünschen zu dürfen. Die Thatsache, daß ihre Paitei in Pari- die bisherigen 5 Sitze behalten und noch 3 andere dazu erobert hat, ist nach ihrer Mei nung ein höchst bedeutsame- Symptom. Auch das republikanische „XIX. Sidcle* gesteht ein, daß die reaktionäre Partei sich über alle Erwartung stark ge zeigt habe. ES ist gewiß, daß die clerico-monarchi- stische und bonapartistische Coalition alle ihre Kräfte angespannt hat. Der „GauloiS* übertreibt jedoch gewaltig, wenn er berechnet, die konservativen Can didaten hätten zusammengenommen 147 000 Stimmen gehabt, d. i. 75000 mehr, al- bei der Wahl vor 3 Jahren. Trotz Allem, fügt indeß der „Figaro" hin zu, kann der künftige Gemeinderath noch für commu nistisch genug gelten, und darin stimmt das Boulevard blatt mit den intransigenten Journalen überein, die ihre Enttäuschung nach Möglichkeit verheimlichen. Rochefort z. B. erklär», er habe nie ein anderes Resul tat gehofft, und die intransigente Partei brauche im Gemeinderath gar nicht die numerische Mehrheit zu haben. Die Entschiedenheit ihrer Mitglieder werde genügen, um allerlei Mißbräuchen vorzubeugen. — Die „Justice* sagt: „Paris befindet sich in einer Art von Erstarrung; verschiedene Systeme haben schon erkennen lasten, wie abgespannt eö ist. Die Wähler- Versammlungen waren schwach besucht, und es erschienen auch nur wenig Wähler bei den Urnen. Meistens ließen die Republikaner e- bei der Wiederwahl der bisherigen Gemeinderäthe bewenden, und von einer rechten Strömung des allgemeinen Stimmrechts war kaum etwa- zu entdecken. So erklärt sich die Schlappe einiger der Unseren, welche die Opportunisten von ihren Sitzen zu verdrängen suchten. Der Opportunis mus kann sich glücklich schätzen, wenn er nicht mehr Terrain verliert. Er verdankt dies der Apathie der Wähler, welche auch die noch betrübendere Folge Halle, daß der Gemeinderath seine Pforten 2 Katholiken öffnet. * Unser Pariser Correspondent sucht auS allen diesen Urtheilen die Wahrheit herauszuschälen und schreibt: Die Wahlen waren ein unbestreitbarer Sieg für die progresfistrsche oder, wenn man will, die opportunistische Republik. Zu welcher MajoritätSfchattlrung sich in der neuen städtischen Versammlung von Pans die Parteinuancen verschmelzen werden, ist mit Bestimmt heit noch nicht zu sagen, aber keinesfalls wird dieselbe einen radicaleren Charakter haben, als ihre Vorgänge rin, und so radical sich der bisherige Gemeinderath verhalten hat, so muß man ihm die Gerechtigkeit widerfahren lassen, daß er m den letzten Monaten sich sichtlich von der extremen Richtung abgewandt hat. „Das hat mit ihrem Singen die ... Louise Michel gethan*. Diese Dame, über welche sich soeben das „Journal deS DebatS* und die „Republique fron ^aise* lustig machen, dürste sich denn auch allmählich gezwungen sehen, ihren Ton ein wenig herabzustim men. In einer öffentlichen Versammlung, wo die Heldin von Montmartre dieser Tage ihre bekannten Angriffe gegen Gambetta zu erneuern suchte, wurde sie von dem Publicum so unsanft behandelt, daß sie er für räthlich hielt, sich eilends zu entfernen. Die fol genden Ziffern werden übrigen- ein annäherndes Bild von der Bedeutung der Pauser Wahlen geben. Von 385000 eingeschriebenen Wählern nahmen 254000 an der Abstimmung Theil. Etwa 150000 Stimmen sind der gemäßigte« oder progressistischen Republik gutzuschreiben; in die anderen 100000 theilen sich die Monarchisten und Intransigenten je zur Hälfte. Es sind 50 Republikaner und 8 Reaktionäre gewählt worden, und in 22 Bezirken bleibt eine Stichwahl zu vollziehen. Von diesen 22 neuen Wahlkämpfen wird einer zwischen zwei Reaktionären ausgefochten, einer zwischen einem Republikaner und einem Reaktionär, Feuilleton. Redigir» von Otto Bauck. K. Hoftheater. — Altstadt. — Am 12. Januar: „Uriel Acosta*, Trauerspiel in 5 Acten von Karl Gutzkow. (Hr. v. d. Osten vom Hamburger Stadt- theattr in letzter Gastrolle.) Für den Gast war e- an diesem Abend zwar viel erfreulicher, aber zugleich viel schwieriger al» bei seinem bisherigen dreimaligen Austreten, eine in gewissem Grade hervorstechende Leistung darzubieten. Al» Uriel Acosta stand er hier zum ersten Male in einem Ensemble, daS in seiner vielseitigen Tüchtigkeit den höheren An forderungen an unser Sunstinstitut entsprach. In einer durch die beste Tradition fein geschulten Darstellung stehen hier in Frl. Ulrich, Frl. Berg, in Hrn. Porth, Jass» und Walther, denen sich Hr. Matkow-ky und Koberstein wacker anschließen, Kräfte zusammen, deren einzelne Glieder in den Rollen Judith, Esther, de Silva, Akiba, Banderstraten, Santo- und Jochai eine fest und sicher geschlossene Kette bilden. Beson der- zeichneten sich in dieser Vorstellung Frl. Ulrich, Frl. Berg, Hr. Porth und Hr. Jaffs au- durch eine ganz besonder- begeisterte Hingebung an die bedeutung- volle Aufgabe. Ich habe die Judith in neuerer Zeit kaum mit einer gleichen poetischen Beseelung, in keinem Fall mit einem künstlerisch so schönen, dem Auge in allen Bewegungen und Stellungen so wohlthuenden Spiel darstellen gesehen. LS versteht sich von selbst, daß der Gast nicht mit gleiche« siegreichen Schwung die stolze und glückliche Ueberlieferung der Urielrolle aufnehmen und fortfüh. ren konnte. Sie entfiel in Emil Devrient und Dett mer zu starken Händen. Aber e» hat mich doch für die noble Erscheinung deS Künstler» sympathisch und erfreulich berührt, daß er in der rüstig angestrebten Lösung dieser schwierigen Aufgabe seine beste Gast spielleistung gab, daß er nicht nur ein Apostat, son dern auch ein Mann war, vollere und wärmere Töne anschlagend, al» ich erwartet hatte. Line ruhigere Be herrschung der Steigerung wird ihn vielleicht zu dem seltenen Resultat führen, vor dem Abgang zur Synagoge und in der Scene nach dem Widerruf da» Theater mehr vergeßen zu machen. Dieser Uriel kann sich an jeder guten Bühne sehen lasten, doch, Alle- in Allem betrachtet, kann diese für den Gast schmeichelhafte Erkenntniß noch immer nicht dazu Hinreißen, für sein sofortige- Engagement zu plä- diren. Hierbei muß da- Wohl unsere» Theater- zu jeder Vorsicht ohne Schonung persönlicher Interessen rücksicht-lo» auffordern. O. B. Mufik. Mit ihrer dritten Soirse für Kammer musik am 17. d. feiern die Herren Lauterbach, Hüllweck, Göring und Grützmacher zugleich da zwanzigjährige Bestehen ihrer vereinigten künstlerischen Thätigkrit zu Quartettabenden, in denen sie un- in vorzüglichen und schön vollendeten Produktionen den Genuß edler und ernster Tonschöpfungen boten. Am 20. Januar 1862 (Hr. Loncertmeister Lauterbach hatte am 1. Mai 1861 seine hiesige Stellung angetreten) be gann der erste QuartettcykluS diese» Künstlervereia», der stet» von einem gleich warmen und wahren Kunst streben seiner Mitglieder erfüllt war und in seinen Leistungen zur Freude der Musikfreunde bekundete. Möge Dank und Anerkennung der letzteren sich in leb haftester Theilnahme an der bevorstehenden Soiree zu erkennen geben, in welcher die Quartette jener ersten Soiree wieder zum Vortrag kommen werden: Quartett von Haydn 0-ckur, Ls-änr Quartett von Cherubini und O-äur-Quartett von Beethoven vp. 59 Nr. 3. C. B Ein Crimiualproce-. Erzählt von I. v. Unger. (Fortsetzung zu «r ».) Er hatte mich ongehört, ohne mich zu unterbrechen. Jetzt that er einige Fragen in Betreff meiner Krank heit; dann schwieg er wieder lange. „Ich bin mit mir völlig im Klaren,* begann er endlich. „DaS Nervenleiden ist bei Ihnen lange vor bereitet gewesen und durch die heftige GemüthSaffection endlich zum Ausbruch gekommen. DaS ist der regel mäßige Verlauf. Aber Sie werden vollständig geheilt werden, dafür bürge ich * „Ach, eS ist ja Alles schwarz um mich her, ries ich, — wie soll denn je wieder Tag werden!* „Natürlich! wo daS Gehirnchen keine« Ausweg findet, stellt eS sich gleich da- Ende vor. Sind Sie noch nie in einer Situation gewesen, wo Sie nicht glaubten, den nächsten Tag überleben zu können?* „Ja, daS bin ich.* „Nun denn, und doch sitzen Sie jetzt neben mir, Sie sehen keinen AuSweg, ich ober, der ich die Gache besser verstehe, ich sehe ihn.* „Go zeigen Sie ihn mirl* „Zweierlei muß geschehen. Durch ein vernünftiges Regime muß der kranke Nerv hergestellt werden. Vor Allem aber muß die Veranlassung beseitigt werden, welche Sie in diesen Zustand gestürzt hat * „Ach, wenn ich da» könnte!* „Haben Sie nie mit einem verständigen Menschen über T)aSjenige gesprochen, was Sie so sehr bedrückt?* „Rein* „Sie haben sich geschämt, eS zu thun?* „Ja.* „Und nicht ohne Grund; denn Sie fühlten, daß diese Empfindungen auf einer unmännlichen Schwäche beruhen, daß Sie sich lächerlich, ja verächtlich dadurch machen. Verzeihen Sie, ich muß so zu Ihnen reden; in diesem Augenblicke bin ich Ihr Arzt, und ich würde kein Bedenken tragen, Sie mit glühendem Eisen zu brennen, wenn e- nölhig wäre * Wieder liefen mir heiße Thränen über die Wangen. „Ein» will ich zu Ihrem Tröste sagen: ich verachte Sie nicht; ich weiß ganz genau, daß diese Gedanken Ihnen völlig fernliegen würden, wenn Sie gesund wären.
