Die Schlußworte deS Kaisers an die De putation der Triester Handelskammer, in wklcheu cr dem Bedauern Ausdruck gab, daß die Triester Abgeordneten der Regierung factiöse Opposition machen, haben in hiesigen politischen Kreisen größte Sensation hervorgerufen. Die Deputation reist heute Abend ab und wird morgen ihrer Handels kammer Bericht erstatten. (Vgl. die „TageSge- schichte."^ Heute Abend fand im großen Saale deS „Hotel Metropole" daS Kestbanket der geogra phischen Gesellschaft zu 15V Gedecken Statt, dem Minister, Gelehrte, Feldherren, Diplomaten und Schriftsteller anwohnten. Hofrath Hochstetter er- öffnete die Toaste mit einem begeistert aufgevom- meuen Hoch auf den Kaiser und den Kronprinzen, der Unterrichtsminister toastirte auf die weitere gedeihliche Entwickelung der Gesellschaft, Baron Helfert ans die Regierung, welche die Wissenschaft und geographische Forschung stets unterstützt und gefördert hat. Director Jauner hat sich hente, da ein Ge rücht circulirte, daß er von Wien abgrreist sei, zum Untersuchungsrichter begeben und freiwillig daS Gelöbniß geleistet, daß er ohne polizeiliche Genehmigung Wien nicht verlassen werde. Zu einer heute hier stattgehabteu Ber- sammlung von Grundbesitzern, an welcher 25V Per sonen theilnahmen, wurden mehrere Beschlüsse an genommen, durch welche Protest erhobt« wird gegen die Handhabung der Landacte und gleichzeitig Ent schädigung verlangt wird für die den Grundbesitzern durch daS Gesetz entstehenden Verluste. An den offenen Laden von Hermann Schulz, in welchem da» Detailgeschäft betrieben wurde, schlossen sich zwei Tontore an. In dem ersten derselben saßen mehrere Buchhalter an ihren Pulten, da der Groß handel, welchen da» Geschäft mit der Umgegend trieb, sehr bedeutend war und ein große» Personal ver langte. In dem zweiten kleineren Zimmer war nur der Schreibtisch de» Principal» zu sehen, doch war in früherer Zeit die Berdindung»thür stet» offen gewesen, und die jungen Leute hatten unmiltelbar unter den Lugen ihre» Chefs gearbeitet, der die Leistung von jedem kannte. Seit acht Tagen war diese Thüre indeß verschlossen, und Herr Schulz war für Keinen sichtbar al» für Burg, mann, der, um zu seinem Herrn zu gelangen, eine kleine Thüre benutzte, die vom Hofe au» in da» Zim mer führte. E» konnte nicht fehlen, daß sowohl Hedwig'» Fort gehen, al» auch da» Gerücht, daß der bi» dahin so ver ehrte Thef sich einer Wechselfälschung schuldig gemacht habe, (nachdem dir» in der kleinen Stadt mit Begierde vernommen und weiter verbreitet worden war) auch in die Ladenräume und in da» Tontor seine» eigenen Hause» einer von dem englischen Consul und dem ersten Dragoman der englischen Botschaft geleisteten Bürgschaft wieder auf freien Kuß gesetzt werde«. Dresden, 23. December. Da» dänische Ministerium Estrup, welche» sich noch bi» vor Kurzem der so zahlreichen Oppo sition gegenüber in einer immerhin günstigen Stellung befand, ist nruerding» der Unterstützung der alten nationalliberalen Partei, die eine einflußreiche Gruppe der Rechten bildet und vor dem jetzigen conservativen Ministerium lange Jahre die Zügel der Regierung führte, verlustig gegangen. Die im Volksthing anläß lich deS Staotshaushaltsetats und der GerichtSresormvor- lage stattgefundenen Debatten lassen einerseits erkennen, daß der gemäßigte Theil der parlamentarischen Oppo sition nicht geneigt ist, den radicalen Elementen blind lings zu folgen, sondern nur insoweit mit ihnen zu sammenzugehen bereit ist, als eS sich um den gemein samen Zweck der Beseitigung deS Ministeriums handelt, und andererseits, daß auch die bisherige Regierungs partei, bestehend aus Conservativen und gemäßigten Liberalen, in sich uneinS geworden ist. Gleichzeitig ist ein kirchlicher Kampf von voraussichtlich weittragen der Bedeutung zum AuSbruch gekommen, in welchem sich zeigen wird, daß eS zwar in dem kleinen Däne mark am religiösen Leben nicht sehlt, aber auch nicht am „Eiser mit Unverstand". Die von der Verfassung den Verhältnissen gemäß bestimmte Einheit der luthe rischen Landeskirche hat von der in ihr befindlichen grundtvigianischen Partei, welche die bestehende Kirchen ordnung immer als einen Druck empfand, einen ernsten öffentlichen Angriff erlitten. Diese Partei, deren Be griff von Freiheit sich über die ungebundene deS Ein zelnen nicht zu erheben scheint, hat in den ersten Tagen deS August dieses Jahres in einer ihrer Propaganden zu Askov an der jütischen Südgrenze eine Versamm lung abgehalten, auf der sie durch 120 Prediger und mehr als 600 Laien vertreten war. An der Spitze ihrer Reform- oder vielmehr UmwälzungSpläne steht die Predigerfreiheit. Sie wollen, daß der Prediger den Satzungen der Landeskirche gegenüber nur auf sein Gewissen verpflichtet werde. Aller Gelehrsamkeit, man kann fast sagen aller Geistesbildung feind, ver langen sie die Entfernung der klassischen Bildung von ihrem Gebiete und wollen, nach einer ihrer LieblingSphrajen, daß der Prediger auf einem „nor disch-christlichen Grunde" gebildet werde. Die Bischöfe sollen die Eriaubniß bekommen, auch „unstudirte" Priester zu weihen. Dieser abschüssige Gedankengang erreichte seinen tiefsten Punkt in der Forderung eine» nordjütischen Bauern, daß ein „unstudirter" Bauer zum Priester geweiht werde, und in der beigesügten Drohung, daß die Bauern selbst ihn weihen würden, wenn der Bischof sich dessen weigere. Ferner verlan gen diese geistliche Herren die Freiheit, nach persön lichem Ermessen sich eine Liturgie und ein Gesangbuch zu schaffen. Wenn sie die Wahl der Prediger durch die Gemeinden erstreben, kann dies nur in dem Be wußtsein geschehen, daß ihnen dadurch die überwiegende Mehrzahl der Aemter, besonder» auf dem Lande, zu fallen würde; denn sie haben von jeher gestrebt, sich der Landbevölkerung zu bemächtigen, deren Eigenheiten zu erlauschen, deren Wesen nachzuahmen, deren blinde Anhänglichkeit zu gewinnen. Diese und andere Forderungen wurden dem Cul- tuSminister und dem LandSthing in einer Petition unterbreitet, weshalb der LultuSminister den dem geist lichen Stande angehörigen Unterzeichnern der Adresse einen Verweis ertheilte, und zwar nicht nur wegen deS Inhalte» der Adresse, sondern auch, weil diese Adresse gleichzeitig an daS LandSthing gerichtet worden war. Vier von den Geistlichen, welche die Petition eindringen mußte, und die» hatte zur Folge gehabt, daß einige seiner Commis aus dem Detailgeschäft ihm ihre Dienste gekündigt hatten. Ohne nach dem „Wa rum" zu fragen, bezahlte der Principal denselben ihr Salair aus und verlangte nur, daß sie sofort sein HauS verlassen sollten, dann stellte er allen anderen gleichfalls frei, ihren Platz verlassen zu können, doch meldete sich keiner mehr. — Von diesem Augenblicke an war jene Thür verschlossen, hinter welcher der Un glückliche fortan die schwersten Kämpfe allein durch- kämpste, denn noch war er in einem Zustande, der ihn selbst den Zuspruch der Mutter nicht ertragen ließ, die seit einigen Tagen wieder in da» verödete Hau» zu rückgekehrt war. Im Detailgeschäfte gab e» viel zu thun, die Kun- den kamen mehr denn je, da die Neugierde ein neuer Gmnd war, der die Menschen herbrachte, und bei dem veringerten Personal würde e» ohne Burgmann gar nicht möglich gewesen sein, Alle zu befriedigen. Dieser schien seine Kräfte zu verdoppeln und zu verdreifachen; — alle die schweren Arbeiten im Waarenraume, seine eigentliche Function, waren im Fluge abgethan — und nachher stand er im Laden und wog Kaffee und Rosinen ab, oder holte Kleiderstoffe von den Regalen herab und legte sie den Kunden vor und besorgte die« Alle» mit einer Gewandtheit, al» habe er ledenSlaug nicht» Andere» gethan, bi» ihn der Buchhalter in» Contor rief und ihm Briefe und Rechnungen einhän digte, die er dem Thef zur Unterschrift bringen sollte, da Herr Schulz auf ein bescheidenes Klopfen de» Buch halter» die Thür noch immer nicht geöffnet habe. Burgmann war eben zu dem Herrn hinein gegangen, al» die stattliche Figur de» Bürgermeister» Battel in mit unterzeichnet haben, sind nun der ihnen ertheilten officiellen Rüge mit einer sehr energischen Erklärung an da» EultuSministerium entgege«gctreten. Sie be rufen sich darauf, daß die gesetzgebende Macht aus schließlich bei der Regierung und dem Reichstage liege, und betonen namentlich, daß die Versammlung, welche die Petition beschlossen habe, eine „Gemeindeversamm lung" gewesen sei. ES werde nicht die Absicht de» Ministerium» sein, eine innerhalb der evangelisch luthe rischen Kirche unerhörte Scheidung zwischen Geistlichen und Laien geltend zu machen. Sie seien sich keines- weg» bewußt, die Grenze kirchlicher oder bürgerlicher Gesetzlichkeit überschritten zu Haden, hätten den Schritt vielmehr im Bunde mit der Gemeinde gethan, deren Interessen sie „kraft ihre» Amtes" «ahrzuneh men verpflichtet seien. Sie seien daher nicht in der Lage, die ihnen ertheilte Rüge als eine sie al» Pastoren der „dänischen VolkStirche" auf den rechten Weg weisende Mißbilligung anzuerkennen. Seitdem haben eine Anzahl Predigerconvente stattge- funden, bei denen die Mehrzahl die zersetzenden Be strebungen der Grundtvigianer verdammte. Es sei, erklärte z. B. der Predigerconvent in RocSkilde, nicht zu billigen, daß man sich wegen Reformen in der Volkskirche, von denen einige das innere Wesen und Leben derselben aufs Tiefste berühren, an den Reichs tag wendet. Sofern innerhalb der Volkskirche daS Bedürfniß nach kirchlichen Reformen vorhanden sein sollte, müßten solche, um in der rechten Weise verhan delt und durchgeführt zu werden, an die eigene innere Verwaltung der Kirche, die Bischöfe und Klrchenräthe, verwiesen werden, auf welchem Wege einzig und allein eine Sicherheit dafür zu erlangen ist, daß sie im Geiste und aus Grund der evangelisch-lutherischen Kirche auS- geführt werden können. Damit war aber die Bewegung nicht aus der Welt geschafft. Die Linke deS VolkSthingS hängt mit den Grundtvigianern eng zusammen und hat ihnen viel zu verdanken. Im Namen der Linken brachte denn auch der Abg. HögSbroe folgende motivirte Tagesordnung ein: „Indem das Volkrthing erklärt, daß es den vom CultuSminister mittelst Schreibens vom 7. September d. I. einigen Predigern der Volkskirche ertheilten Ver weis nicht billigen kann, geht das Thing zur Tages ordnung über." Im Verlaufe der Debatte bemerkte der CultuSminister, daß die betreffenden Prediger vor ein Propstcngericht gestellt seien, Beamte dürften im Allgemeinen keinen Antrag an den Reichstag stellen. Eine Mlnontät fordere eine Predigerfreiheit, die zur Auflösung der Volkskirche führen müsse. Die kirchliche Freiheit sei groß genug, daß auch die Gruudtvigianer Platz darin fänden. Das Einschreiten des Ministers sei keine Frucht einer Antipathie gegen die Grundt vigianer an sich, sondern aus einem reiflich erwogenen Beschluß deS gejammten Ministeriums hervorgegangen. Ein offener Kampf gegen das sogenannte Gewohnheits christenthum, dessen civilisatorijche Kraft man nicht unterschätzen dürfe, würde blos dem Unglauben zu Gute kommen, der hier im Lande jetzt so einfluß reiche Repräsentanten habe. Freihettsbestrebungen der Prediger, die die Gesammtkirche schwächten, anstatt sie durch festes Zusammenschließen zu stärken, ieien vom Uebel; man müsse daher an dem Boden nicht rütteln, wogegen Reformen, welche die einheitliche Ordnung der Kirche nicht alteriren, jederzeit seine Unterstützung finden würdrn. Für Annahme der Tages ordnung sprachen eine ganze Anzahl Mitglieder der Linken, welche in dem Verweis einen Angriff nicht nur auf die Adreßfreiheit, sondern auch aus die Ver sammlungsfreiheit und die Redefreiheit erblickten. Der Abg. Jagt bestritt die Competenz des Things zur An nahme eitler solchen Tagesordnung, indem er hervor hob, daß eS, wenn man an der ConfessionSlosigkeit deS Reichstag» festhalte, verwerflich sei, das Thing auf den Laden trat und Herrn Schulz zu sehen verlangte. Der Commis, an welchen er sich wandte, zuckte die Achseln und rief den ersten Buchhalter, der lhn ver sicherte, daß dies nicht möglich wäre, da Herr Schulz für keinen Menschen zu sprechen sei, nicht einmal für ihn, seinen langjährigen Gehilfen, und daß Burgmann den ganzen Verkehr deS Geschäft-Personals mrt ihrem Chef vermittle. Vielleicht aber wünsche der Herr Bürgermeister die alte Frau Schulz zu sprechen? die sei oben und würde sich gewiß freuen, den Herrn Bürgermeister zu sehen. — Dieser schüttelte ablehnend daS Haupt und verließ den Laden. Als er auf den Flur trat, sah er Burgmann die ihm wohlbekannte kleine Thür schließen und auS dem Comptoir in den Hof treten. Rasch trat er auf ihn zu: „Guten Tag, Burgmann, nun, wie geht's?" „Wie sollte es gehen, Herr Bürgermeister", ant wortete dieser, schnell den Hut vom Kopse ziehend, „traurig genug." „Glaub'» wohl, Burgmann; aber ch höre, Sie nehmen sich der Sache an allen Enden an und thun, so viel Sie nur immer können." „Meine Pflicht, Herr Bürgermeister, nur meine Pflicht! — Herr Schulz hat sich meiner auch ange- nommen, als Keiner sonst etwa- von mir wissen wollte, und ich freue ich, daß ich ihm da» ein Wenig heim zahlen kann — wenn e» nur bei einer andern Gele genheit wäre!" „Sie sind ein braver Mann, Burgmann", b'agte der Bürgermeister, ihm die Hand bietend, „und ich habe Ihnen da» schon lange sogen wollen. E» thut mir leid, daß ich damal» nicht an Ihre Besserung glaube« wollte, aber der Ungeprüfte veruttheilt ja so dem kirchlichen Gebiete austreten zu lassen. Die Tages ordnung wurde aber schließlich mit 67 gegen 5 Stimmen angenommen; 11 Mitglieder der Rechten enthielten sich der Abstimmung. Daß die Linke in dieser Abstimmung daS Be- merkenSwertheste sieht, kann nicht verwundern. „Die Rechte sei in der Klemme gewesen, die Mannschaft (warum nicht die Ratten?) verließ das sinkende Schiff." Merkwürdigerweise nahm der radicale Abg. Berg in melancholucher Selbstironie, ganz witzig, den Stachel aus der Interpellation und der Tagesordnung, indem er meinte, eine lange „Nase" von einem Volksthing, das selbst ohnmächtig mit einer Nase dasitze, habe nicht viel zu bedeuten. Auch daS Ministerium scheint dieser Niederlage, sowie dem Abfall der Nationalliberalen kein allzu großes Gewicht beizulegen. Das Journal „Dagens Nyheder" meint, es sei nicht da« Mindeste geschehen, wodurch die Stellung des Ministeriums erschüttert wäre. Dasselbe hat sich die Ausgabe ge stellt, die Verfassung gegen den Versuch zu schützen, das Verhältniß zwischen den verschiedenen Theilen der gesetzgebenden Macht zu verrücken, dadurch näm lich, daß daS Volksthing, wie die Linke will, zum ent scheidenden Factor gemacht wird, wodurch das Reichs gericht wegeScamotitt würde und da» Landsthing eine untergeordnete machtlose Stellung erhielte. Sv lange aber das Ministerium wie jetzt im Besitze des Ver trauens des König sei und vom Landsthing gestützt würde, sei eS stark genug, um seine Aufgabe lösen zu können. Sonach könne der Kamps vielleicht noch lange dauern; aufgegeben aber könne er nicht werden, auch von der Rechten des VolkSthingS nicht, die sich ledig lich selbst ihr Grab grübe, wenn sie dem Ministerium oder dem Landsthing ein solches in kurzsichtigem Egois mus zu graben versuchte. — Auch „Dagbladet", dessen politische Stellung als e n wenig minder rechts neben den anderen wichtigeren Rechtenblättern bezeichnet wer den kann, tritt den voreiligen Gerüchten von dem Ab gang deS Ministeriums Estrup entschieden entgegen, indem es sich über die Leichtgläubigkeit und UrtyeilS- losigkeit eines großen ThrilS deS Publicum» beschwert. Es führt aus, oaß der passive Widerstand der Linken, mit einer Arbeitsniederlegung, wohl sehr zu beklagen sei und vom Ministerium beklagt werde, allein doch mehr dem Lande und gerade den Interessen der Wähler nachlheilig sei, als der Regierung an sich. Die R.chle müsse mit Resignation warten, sie könne keinen Selbst mord begehen. Wolle die Linke die Rechte oder einen Theil derselben für sich gewinnen, so müsse sie ernst lich arbeiten an den vorgelegten Gesetzen. Komme man dann einmal so weit, daß man die persönliche Opposition aufgebe und in sachlicher Beziehung eine Uebereinkunft mit dem Landsthing nachsuche, um wenigstens ein brauchbares F'nanzgeietz zu Stande zu bringen, so könnte möglicher Weis: die politische Situa tion eine andere werden; aber bis dahln möge man sich die Mühe sparen, die Frage zu discutiren, wer das jetzige Ministerium ablösen solle. Lagesgeschichte. Dresden, 23. December. Die Zweite Kammer hielt heute in Anwesenheit der Staateminister Or. v. Abeken und Frhr. v. Könneritz ihre letzte Sitzung vor dem Feste ab. Den ersten Gegenstand der Tagesord nung bildete die allgemeine Voib:rathung eines königl. Decrets, einen Gesetzentwurf wegen Abänderung einer Bestimmung de» Gesetzes vom 29. September 1834 über die Einrichtung der Staatsschuldenkasse betreffend. Nach diesem Gesetzentwürfe soll die Bestimmung des gedachten Gesetzes, daß die Talons der Staatsschuld- scheine von Mitgliedern des Landtagsausschusses zu Verwaltung der Staatsschulden eigenhändig zu voll ziehen sind, in Wegfall kommen. Abg. Bönisch em- leicht seinen gefallenen Bruder, statt sich zu bemühen, ihn wieder aufzurichten; Hermann Schulz hat das an ders gemacht." „Er mochte wohl besser wissen, al» Sie, wie einem solchen armen Teufel, der sich ein Mal vergangen hat, zu Sinne ist, Herr Bürgermeister", antwortete Burg mann leise, indem er seine schwielige Rechte eine Se kunde lang in die ihm dargebotene Hand legte. Der Bürgermeister antwortete nicht darauf, sondern sagte nach einer Pause: „Ich muß Ihren Herrn sprechen, Burgmann." „Unmöglich, Herr Bürgermeister, er läßt Niemand zu sich, selbst seine Mutter sieht er Tage lang nicht — er ist furchtbar unglücklich." „Um so nöthiger ist e», daß ich ,hn spreche, viel leicht kann ich ihm einigen Trost bringen." „Ja, wenn Sie das könnten?—aber ich glaube es nicht! — Die junge Frau wird nicht wieder kommen, und da er seine Familie verloren hat, ist ihm alle» Andere gleichgiltig.
