Hugbert (1023 bis 1024). 41 leitete als Vorsteher der Doraschule seit 1205 den Unterricht und die Disciplin derselben, oder lehrte oft selbst darin, fungirte auch als Diözesanschulinspector und ordentlicher Dichter über alle Lehrer und Unterriehtsanstalten des Bisthums. Dann kam der Cellarius oder Cellerarius, welcher die Aufsicht über die Vorrathskammern, die Küche, den Keller und das Gesinde, kurz über das ganze Wirthschafts- wesen hatte, und endlich der Medicus oder Stiftsarzt. Die seit dem VIII. Jahrhundert bereits in verschiedenen Diözesen amtirenden Archidiaconen — welche im Meissner Sprengel erst seit dem Ende des XIII. Jahrhunderts Vorkommen — mussten wenigstens die Diaeonats-, in späterer Zeit auch die Priesterweihe empfangen haben, gehörten gleichfalls dem Capitel an und besorgten die Beaufsichtigung und Visitation der Pfarrsprengel, die Vollziehung der bischöflichen Anordnungen, etwaige Correctiohen oder Censuren der Geistlichen, die Verkündigung der Ordinanden und andere Geschäfte der Verwalt ung im Archidiaconatsbezirke.*) Unter den Priestern stand derjenige, welcher dem Amte nach der Aelteste war, den Uebrigen vor, und hiess der erste oder Erzpriester, Archipresbyter. Das Archi- presbyterat (Sedes) führte die Aufsicht über die regelmässige Ab haltung des Gottesdienstes, hielt Synoden, schlichtete die kleineren Streitigkeiten der Geistlichen 2 ) und versah bei Verhinderung des Bischofs dessen priesterliche Functionen. Nach dem Archipresbyter kamen die übrigen Capitularen, welche mit den Dignitaren und den jüngeren Canonikern oder Domicellaren Sitz und Stimme im Capitel hatten und noch im XII. Jahrhundert Fratres genannt wurden. Wie viel Capitularen es damals in Meissen gab, oder wie reich ihre Präbenden zu Hugbert’s Zeit gewesen, lässt sich nirgends ersehen. Jedenfalls war der Propst und später der Domdechant präbendirt, in dessen die damaligen Canoniker eigene Güter nicht besessen zu haben scheinen, wie überhaupt eine ausgebildete Bangordnung der Dignitarien in Meissen viel später entstand. Erst 1352 traten die Weihbischöfe vicarii in pontificalibus, episcopi titulares, in partibus infidelium — auf, Welche in Vertretung des Diözesanbischofs Priester, Diaconen, Minoristen, oder auch Kirchen, Capellen, Altäre, Glocken, Kirchhöfe u. s. w. zu weihen und die Firmung auszuspenden hatten. 3 ) Ihr •) Dufresne Glossarium I. 303. *) Schmidt, Thesaur. juris' eccles III. p. 290, 314. 3 ) Soviel bekannt, funetionirten nur 13 Weihbischöfe in Meissen.
