Benehmt euch ruhig, Kinder, Vati wird gleich mit den Wiener Philharmonikern üben Behave quietly, children, father will be rehearsing with the Viennese Philharmonie Orchestra, in a minute MALACHOWSKY The work of Lio von Malachowsky, full of temp- erament, betray an inborn sense of humour. Al- ways lively, witty and full of merry and grotesque ideas, he transfers these to paper with a positively incredible facility, whether he be armed with brush, pen or—his favourite weapon—a piece of char- coal. His compositions are always decorative and concise. It is a pleasure to watch him draw, im- provising constantly as he goes. As long as drawn trick films were in favour in Germany, it was inevitable that Malachowsky should have been one of the finest craftsmen in this field. For some time he worked with one of the bestknown modern caricaturists—Paul Simmel—and his master always spoke of his work in the highest terms of praise. His work is found in many publications in England, France and Sweden, so that not only the populär magazines of his native land, such as "Die Koralle" and "Die Lustigen Blätter" appreciate the ability of this artist and the freshness of his humour.
