10. A bottle of Orange Syrup. 11. A bottle of Grenadine or Raspberry Syrup. Eleven items may look formidable, but most of them will be found in any ordinary household. The Syrups and Bitters can be obtained for the price of a couple of bottles of Whisky. Orange Syrup is a cheap substitute for Curagao; Sugar Syrup or Gomme should be used instead of Sugar. Needless to say, one has generally handy at home, lemons, oranges, tange- rines, pine-apple (tinned), mint, eggs, milk, cream and soda water. This would allow anyone to sample at home such wonderful concoctions as the: Bamboo, Bennett, Blenton, Brandy, Bronx, Clover Club, Clover Leaf, Cooperstown, Diabolo, Gibson, Harvard, H.P.W., Houla-Houla, Inca, Old-Fashioned, Orange Blossom, Perfect, Queens, R.A.C., Rob Roy, Royal Clover Club, Spanish, Sunshine, Thistle, Tipperary, Trocadero, Velocity, X.Y.Z., Yellow Rattler and Wax Cocktails, besides various kinds of cobblers, cupps, egg noggs, flips, fizzes, etc. etc. Although I call this book Cocktails: How to Mix Them , I have included par- ticulars as to the preparation of many other drinks, such as cobblers, coolers,' crustas, cups, daisies, egg noggs, fizzes, flips, frappds, French apdritifs, high' balls, invalid drinks, juleps, lemonades, pousse caf^s, punches, rickeys, sangarees, slings, smashes, sours, toddies, etc. * THEOKRIT DAFNIS UND DIE HIRTIN Ein Fragment*) Hirtin: Die schlaue Helena hat Paris geraubt, auch so ein Rinder hirt.
